Parents are the most important influence in a child's life and chances are most ALL behaviors will be imitated -- both positive and negative. Take "inventory" of the choices you are making for your daily food intake and physical activities. Could you be sending an unhealthy message to your child? By practicing a healthy lifestyle not only do your children learn by example, you receive the benefit of improvements to your overall life. Let's start with some of the basics...
Begin each day with
a nutritious breakfast
Eat a wide variety of foods
from all the food groups
Drink water and milk
each day and avoid soda
Engage in some form of
physical activity every day
Eat only when you
are hungry...avoid the urge
if bored or stressed
Community Lunch Bunch
Summer is a fond memory of laughter and fun activities with the families who joined GHFF for our eight week Community Lunch Bunch program this summer. We are grateful to receive the ongoing support of our lead sponsor, Souplantation, who provided delicious and healthy salads and soups. In addition, kudos to our new partner, the Rancho Family YMCA, who led our Monday's -- highlighting a variety of physical fitness activities for both children and parents. These partnerships solidify our commitment to doing what is necessary to help keep families in our local communities from becoming another number in the ever growing obesity statistics. Our sincere thanks to the numerous volunteers who continue to make this program a success and who always have a smile on their face and love in their hearts for our families.
